Fairfax Fire Probed as Serial Arson Case Task Force Ties Blaze to 35 Others in the Region
Washington Post, May 9 - 15

Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning fire that rousted a couple from their Fairfax County home as another case in the Washington area's string of arsons.

The regional arson task force linked the fire to more than 35 others set by a serial arsonist or arsonists. Fires have been set on the exteriors of homes in Maryland, the District and Virginia at similar times of day and using similar methods.

Thursday's fire occurred in the 3400 block of Beechcraft Drive in the Hybla Valley area of Fairfax County and could have been disastrous had it not been for a neighbor who happened to see the fire. The man called 911 and ran to the home to alert the sleeping family.
