Officials probe fire at vacant house

Hanover County police and fire officials are investigating a fire that heavily damaged a vacant rental house in Mechanicsville on Tuesday night.

The fire occurred at 6317 Mechanicsville Turnpike shortly before 8:30 p.m. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Investigators were trying yesterday to determine whether the fire was deliberately set, said sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Doug Goodman.
