Roger Gilbert is the author of Walks in the World: Representation and Experience in Modern American Poetry. He recently edited a special issue of the literary magazine Epoch devoted entirely to the life and work of A. R.
Ammons. He is currently writing a critical biography of Ammons, for which he has been awarded a Guggenheim fellowship. He is a professor of English at Cornell University and lives in Ithaca, New York.
