Welcome! If you dropped by because you are new to Linux or looking to find a summary of configuration and administrative tasks this site may be of help. I have found myself in the middle of the Linux battleground and have started putting together a Linux site of my own. Linux is so new that things change every day and the only place to find a great deal of the information needed is on the web. After looking for information every day I decided it was time to collect this information where I could find it. If this site is helpful to you also that's great.

I hope to be able to provide information about installing and configuring Linux systems. I also hope to include day to day administrative and maintenance procedures. I will be working on a 16 processor beowulf cluster soon so look for beowulf details in the near future. I don't think any site can be a comprehensive Linux site. I will include some procedures in full, but supply links for other subjects in an effort to stay up to date.

If you are new to Linux let's start by discussing some popular distributions. You can always start with the source code, but why go through the hassle of compiling your own version when there are numerous distributions available to install on most any PC.

Here are some frequently asked questions and issues.

Newbies may also want to know just what is Linux.

There are plenty of myths concerning Linux. Let's discuss a few.
