G-Carriage Infant Sweater

Yarn: Trenzado

Pattern: Moss and garter stitches; adapted from hand knitting pattern

Tension: T.8=body; T.7=collar, front bands, cuffs

Back: CO 55 stitches

T.8 knit 36 rows in moss stitch (1x1 or birds eye)

Mark for armholes

Knit 44 more rows (RC80)

Scrap off: 17 stitches for each shoulder; 21 stitches for neck

Front: Make 2, reversing shaping

CO 25 stitches

T.8 knit 36 rows in moss stitch

Mark for armhole

Knit 24 rows (RC60)

Bind off 5 stitches at neck edge, then decrease 1 stitch, every row, 3x at

neck edge

Knit to RC80; scrap off 17 shoulder stitches

Join shoulders to back

Collar: With wrong side facing, pick up 15 stitches from each side of neck

and 21 stitches from back neck (51 stitches)

Manually knit 1 row to right (G-Carriage on right)

T. 7 knit 30 rows in garter stitch; bind off around gatepegs

Buttonhole band: With wrong side facing, pick up 39 stitches on front edge

plus 5 stitches evenly along first 9 rows of collar (44 stitches)

T. 7 knit 3 rows in garter stitch

Transfer 1 stitch to adjacent needle 5 times for 5 buttonholes (leaving

empty needles in working position) - leave 3 stitches at top end and 4

stitches at bottom and space buttonholes 8 stitches apart

Knit 4 rows garter stitch and bind off around gatepegs

Button band: same as above without buttonholes

Sleeves: make 2

CO 27 stitches

T. 7 knit 10 rows in garter stitch

Take off on scrap or garter bar and rehang increasing to 35 stitches

RC000 T. 8 knit in moss stitch to RC46, increasing 1 stitch each side

every 4 rows, 8x (to 51 stitches)

Finishing: Attach sleeves, sew up seams, sew on buttons.
