"DESCRIPTION OF THE LOCATION OF CLUGSTON CREEK"
by Ed Clugston
from the
U.S. Geological Survey Maps (USGS)
Clugston Creek, including the north and south forks pass first into and
then through Echo Valley in Stevens County, in the extreme northeastern
portion of the state of Washington. The north fork of Clugston Creek is
about three miles in length and begins on the western slopes on Onion
Mountain, near Galena Farm Mine and the Lucky Boy Mine. It flows to the
southwest between Baldy Mountain and Cornstock Moutain, passing near a
Marble Mine, Reed Ranch, Big Chief Mine, and the Echo Mine. The south
fork of Clugston Creek is about two and one half miles in length and
begins two miles due south of the north fork, on the western side of
Gillette Moutain. It flows to the west around the south side of
Cornstock Mountian passing near the Tenderfoot Mine and the Chloride
Queen Mine. The north and south forks join together to form the main
part of the creek for an additional length of about seven and a half
miles. The two forks join just to the west of Cornstock Mountian, south
of Aspend Hill, and near the end of Weaver Road. It flows to the south
of Morbery Hill and Echo Peak. Then in a sweeping turn to the south, it
is met by a small tributary from Echo Lake about one mile south of the
town of Echo. About two miles beyound the town of Echo, Clugston Creek
terminates as it flows into Mill Creek, at a point five miles north by
northwest of the town of Collville, WA.
