  "In the name of God, Amen. I John Bowen of Augusta County Colony
  Dominion of Virginia, being very sick and weak in body but perfect
  mind and memory thanks and praise to God and calling to mind the
  mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once
  to die,
  "First of all, I command my soul to the hands of God who gave it and
  my
  body to be buried in the earth at the discretion of my executors.
  Secondly, I order all my just debts to be paid, and as for the
  remaining
  of my estate both real and personal to be disposed of in manner and
  form as follows: Item I, I give and bequeath unto my three sons John,
  Moses and William Bowen all my lands and tenements and if either of
  them should die before he have lawful issue or come to the years of
  maturity his part of such lands and tenements is and shall be equally
  divided between my three daughters viz., Anne, Rebeka and Elizabeth,
  or the heirs of their body lawfully begotten and that if two or all
  shall die of my sons then the whole is to descend to be equally
  divided between my daughters in manner and form aforesaid.
  Item II, I give and bequeath unto my three daughter before mentioned,
  Anne, Rebeka and Elizabeth all the remains of my personal estate to be
  equally divided between them except Item I give and bequeath unto my
  dearly beloved wife Rachel, the big sorrel mare her bed and all her
  close and her third of all my personal estate and full liberty of the
  dwelling house and plantation during her widowhood or natural life,
  but if she marries she is to have only the dwelling house and one half
  of the improvements during her natural life.
  Lastly, I constitute nominate and appoint Rachel my well beloved wife
  and William Mathews and William Bowen my trusty and well beloved
  brothers to be Executors of this my last will and test. And I have by
  these presents disannul revoak and dissolve all others wills and
  Tests. And this to be my last will and Testament wherof I have
  hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of Jul 1768.
