Dogs

Margot has spent hours reading about dogs and relationships with dogs. These are her favorite dog books:

Books

Winterdance by Gary Paulsen

Do not miss this! A book to make you laugh and cry. One of my favorite books of all time.

Puppies, Dogs and Blue Northers by Gary Paulsen

Eastern Sun, Western Moon by Gary Paulsen.

You will hate the very few parts of this autobiography that are about dogs. Despite this, I found the book unforgettable, the most profound autobiography I ever read. Not a light read.

Training and Explaining by Job Michael Evans.

Co-author of the Monks of New Skete's dog books (below), this man was a great teacher of dog-owners. This book is excellent and explains so much more than average training manuals. (out-of-print)

The Hidden Life of Dogs by Elizabeth Marshall Thomas

The Art of Raising a Puppy by The Monks of New Skete

How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend by The Monks of New Skete

Behaviour of Wolves, Dogs and Related Canids by Michael W. Fox (out-of-print)

Behavior Problems in Dogs by William F. Campbell

The Wolf Hybrid by Dorothy Pendergrast.

This book is informative.

Above Reproach: A Guide for Owners of Wolf Hybrids by Dorothy Pendergrast.

Some repeat information but still interesting.

There is a wolf-dog in Margot's book Who's Afraid of the Mistletoe? There are many dogs in this book. Dogs own this romance.

Interesting Canine Sites

Azawakh Al-Ifriqiya

A site dedicated to the Azawakh sighthound, the companion of the Tuareg nomads.

The dog in Margot's June 2000 release, Forever and A Baby, is an Azawakh named Ehder, which means eagle.

Kel Simoon Azawakh

Photos of beautiful dogs, details of a trip to Tuareg country. Deb helped Margot with Azawakh research on Forever and A Baby and offered Ehder's name.

Rudelhaus Publishing

Interesting books, magazines and links on owning wolf hybrids.

Wolf Rescue Center

The Wolf Rescue Center advocates for wolves in the wild, not in the backyard. This site tells you why every rescue center in the U.S. is filled to capacity. An thoughtful, excellent site.

Akita-Inu

A wonderful site on this breed, featuring pictures of the famous Akita Hachiko when alive and also preserved. Photos of the evolution of the breed.

Akitas featured prominently in Margot Early's Mr. Family.
